Sticks are beneficial for racing but on public roads automatics are more coveiniant, especially when making corners. I had a ’75 Beetle that I loved but got rid of mostly to get an automatic (old VWs have VERY stiff steering), I traded it for an ’84 Mustang and I’m quite satisfied now.
